Publishing in Community in NYC
What connects pioneering public scholars with knowledge-sharing activities that prioritise care, fairness and sharing for people and planet?
Introducing the Community Publishing Garden!
The Community Publishing Garden (CPG) is an innovative space where we’ll gather together to engage, collaborate, and design the future of community publishing.
Grassroots communities produce valuable knowledge through their own projects and programs, but current open publishing models, rooted in academic traditions, do not fully support them. These communities have unique audiences and measures of success, so their contributions need bold solutions that focus on their specific needs and goals.
The Community Publishing Garden (nursery edition) was facilitated by Kath Burton and Zoe Wake Hyde, with colleagues at The CUNY Graduate Center's Center for the Humanities, in NYC in September 2024. This initial session was rich in stories shared by participants and has informed the development of an exciting new project that we'll be announcing very soon.
We'll also be sharing our own bold take on the findings from the CUNY x CPG session, so watch this space for more in the coming weeks! 💚
